MARKET ANALYSIS
The S&P BSE Sensex closed on a positive note but nearly 145 points off
day's high as institutional investors shifted focus from largecaps to
broader markets. According to analysts, the benchmarks are likely to
consolidate in the near term while midcaps and smallcap may continue to
outperform.
The 30-share index ended at 24,374.40, up 76.38 points. It touched a high
of 24,524.76 and a low of 24,326.48 in trade today.
The S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 2.15 per cent and the S&P BSE
Smallcap Index gained 2.32 per cent.
The market breadth was positive on the BSE with 2,262 gainers against

The foreign institutional investors sold shares worth Rs 266.22 crore while
domestic institutional investors were net sellers worth Rs 439.03 crore on
Wednesday as per the provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.
