Share tips & market updates - Most other Asian markets were trading higher post the US Federal Reserve's FOMC meeting's minutes. Japan's Nikkei surged by 1.41 per-cent while South Korea's Kospi was up 0.9%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index traded higher by 1.3 per-cent. China's Shanghai Composite was up 0.07 per-cent.
During their discussion of monetary policy & economic conditions, the participants concentrate on a number of issues associated with the timing and pace of policy normalisation. Few participants thought the conditions for beginning the policy normalisation process had already been met," the Fed minutes, released on today, concluded.
But "majority participants predicted that based on their assessment of the current economic situation & overview for economic activity, the conditions for the labour market & inflation could well be met by the next meeting," the minutes told. In the mean time, participants generally agreed that it would probably be appropriate to remove policy accommodation gradually, the minutes contributed.
