MARKET ANALYSIS
The Nifty closed in the red for the first time after two-day rally in absence
of supportive cues and profit booking at higher levels. Gains in capital
goods, realty and metals were offset by losses in technology, oil & gas and
FMCG sectors.
The 50-share index ended at 7,400.55, down 15.30 points or 0.21 per cent.
It touched a high of 7,433.30 and a low of 7,391.35 in trade today.
The S&P BSE Sensex closed at 24,805.83, down 52.76 points or 0.21 per
cent. It touched a high of 24,925.90 and a low of 24,773.93 in trade today.
HCL TechBSE -2.84 % (2.56 per cent), TCSBSE -1.92 % (1.91 per cent),
ONGCBSE -1.30 % (1.86 per cent), Bharti AirtelBSE -1.59 % (1.80 per
cent) and Kotak BankBSE -1.24 % (1.67 per cent) were among the top
index losers.
The market breadth was positive on the NSE with 735 gainers against 279
losers.
The foreign institutional investors bought shares worth Rs 575.09 crore
while domestic institutional investors were net buyers worth Rs 99.81
crore on Tuesday as per the provisional data from the NSE.
