MARKET ANALYSIS
Indian markets fell on Friday to mark their first weekly fall in four weeks,
as blue-chips such as State Bank of IndiaBSE -2.24 % declined after
foreign investors sold shares for a fourth consecutive session, while
caution was also seen ahead of GDP data and the central bank's policy
review.
The Nifty ended the first day of June series on a flat-to-negative note in
absence of buying support after the recent rally in the Indian markets.
The 50-share index ended at 7,225, down 10.65 points or 0.15 per cent. It
touched a high of 7,272.50 and a low of 7,118.45 in trade today.
The S&P BSE Sensex closed at 24,217.34, down 16.81 points or 0.07 per
cent. It touched a high of 24,353.59 and a low of 24,163.62 in trade today.
The market breadth was positive on the NSE with 502 gainers against 537
losers.
The foreign institutional investors sold shares worth Rs 522.19 crore while
domestic institutional investors were net buyers worth Rs 195.2 crore on
Thursday as per the provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.
