MARKET ANALYSIS

The S&P BSE Sensex ended a rangebound session on a flat-to-negative note after briefly moving back in the green in the afternoon. Investors kept their positions light ahead of the Infosys quarterly results tomorrow, say dealers.

The 30-share index ended at 20,713.85, down 15.53 points or 0.07 per cent. It touched a high of 20,778.13 and a low of 20,652.69 in trade today.

The Nifty closed at 6,171.15, down 3.45 points or 0.06 per cent. It touched a high of 6,188.05 and a low of 6,148.25 in trade today.

The Sensex gainers included Sesa Sterlite (up 4.31 per cent), NTPC (up 3.09 per cent), Coal India (up 2.84 per cent), ONGC (up 2.73 per cent) and Dr Reddy's Laboratories (up 2.29 per cent).

L&T (2.65 per cent), Axis Bank (2.29 per cent), Hindalco (2.25 per cent), M&M (1.80 per cent) and Maruti (1.48 per cent) were among the major losers.

The market breadth was positive on the NSE with 205 gainers against 612 losers.
